Pierre Debatty's paintings are an allusion to an imaginary landscape, like a journey in which the patches of colour, bold and assertive as they are, sing the joy of life. His paintings are "dreamlands"; they are his own world, a kind of bubble in which he wanders alone and breathes pure air that fills him with happiness.

More than ever, Pierre Debatty's paintings reflect his deep concerns about the threat posed by climate change and the disruption of nature by mankind. But far from wishing to propose an apocalyptic vision of nature, the artist's intention is to present it in its combative form, supported by telluric forces clever enough to reconquer lost harmony and ultimately emerge triumphant.
